Ceramics Cycle
Diving into the heart of sustainability, Ceramics Cycle breathes new life into discarded ceramics.
We're on a mission to revolutionize how we see waste, turning what was once overlooked into prized grog. It's more than recycling. It's a movement towards a greener, more conscious art world.
Project Highlights
The Ceramic Waste Crisis
China alone generates an estimated 100 million tons of ceramic waste annually, mainly from the manufacturing industries.
In Hong Kong, approximately 4,428 tonnes per day of construction waste were sent to landfills daily in 2023. Hong Kong does not publish specific statistics on ceramic waste.
However, ceramics are commonly used in construction, including roof tiles, bricks, and sanitary ware, etc.
Our Ceramic Waste Transformation Process
At the core of Ceramics Cycle is our innovative approach to turning ceramic waste into valuable resources. Here's how we do it:

COLLECTING
SORTING
CRUSHING
GRINDING
SIEVING
BLENDING
Gather discarded ceramics from various sources, including studios, schools, and households
Sorting the ceramic waste, selecting different colors and maturation levels of clay and ceramic materials
Placing the ceramic waste on the ground and breaking it down to the tiny size of stone
The grinding process reduces the gravel-sized ceramic pieces into a very fine powder
Passing the material through a sieve to sort it into different mesh sizes, classifying the ceramic raw materials by fineness
Adding ceramic raw materials to clay and using kneading techniques to blend the two into one
Collaboration Partner
Ko Lui Secondary School participated in the Project We Can 2024, and we are proud to have organized a successful recycling ceramics workshop for this purpose.
The workshop allowed us to create unique and sustainable products while promoting environmental awareness.
We look forward to continuing our efforts towards a greener future.
